PROPRIETA’ E CARATTERISTICHE DI UN ORTAGGIO A MOLTI SCONOSCIUTO
Noto nella sua regione di origine, ma difficile da reperire fuori dai confini pugliesi, questo ortaggio ha conquistato l’America tanto che il New York Times gli ha dedicato un articolo molto approfondito nel quale ne elogia le proprietà.
Il carosello pugliese è una varietà di Cucumis melo (appartenente alla famiglia delle Cucubitaceae), una sorta di melone, raccolto e consumato in tenera età, quando ancora non è maturo. Il sapore e la consistenza sono quelle del comune cetriolo che tutti conosciamo.

In cucina il carosello pugliese si presta per insalate, bruschette, panzanelle, zuppe fredde, ideale per ricette estive fresche e gustose.
