Tuttavia, la macchia mediterranea è minacciata da diversi fattori, tra cui l’urbanizzazione, l’inquinamento, gli incendi boschivi e il cambiamento climatico. Per proteggere la macchia mediterranea, è necessario adottare una serie di misure, come:
- Promuovere la gestione sostenibile del territorio, evitando la cementificazione e il consumo di suolo, e valorizzando le aree protette e i siti di interesse naturalistico.
- Ridurre le emissioni di gas serra e le fonti di inquinamento atmosferico, idrico e del suolo, che alterano gli equilibri ecologici e favoriscono la desertificazione.
- Prevenire e contrastare gli incendi boschivi, attraverso la sensibilizzazione della popolazione, il monitoraggio del territorio, il potenziamento dei mezzi antincendio e la repressione dei comportamenti dolosi o negligenti.
- Sostenere la ricerca scientifica e il monitoraggio ambientale, per acquisire maggiori conoscenze sulle caratteristiche e le dinamiche della macchia mediterranea, e individuare le migliori strategie di conservazione e restauro.
- Educare e coinvolgere i cittadini, le scuole, le associazioni e le istituzioni, per diffondere una cultura del rispetto e della cura della natura, e favorire la partecipazione attiva alla sua tutela.
La Macchia Mediterranea è un ecosistema importante che deve essere protetto e valorizzato; custodirla è necessario per salvare la biodiversità.
